This course is designed to provide a comprehensive coverage of quality management. Emphasis will be placed on both theory and implementation of quality management. The quality concepts, quality theories, quality control, quality assurance, ISO 9000, and total quality management will be the focus of this course. Analyses of quality practices in non-educational sectors will also be discussed to provide deeper understanding of quality management in education.

This course provides students with the knowledge and skills needed in managing school accounts. It is to do with legal procedures and financial management and payment is received, the method of procurement. In addition, matters relating to internal and external auditing procedures are also discussed. Finally, students will be exposed to the responsibilities of school manager about cash book and the physical management of the school

K241 SGDU6043 KUMP C LEGAL ASPECTS IN EDUCATIONAL MANAGEMENT

The aim of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the legal aspects pertaining to educational management particularly in Malaysia. Students are required to analyze certain provisions under the Education Act 1996, discuss selected rules; regulations and the penalties adhered to the provision of the education act and regulations It focuses on the rules, procedures and the legal aspects in relation to conduct and discipline at school management. Issues related to law of tort and negligence of teachers would be discussed based on court cases and current issues. The law of natural justice and procedure to take action on students discipline will also be discussed based on Malaysian education regulations and court cases. Students are required to propose action plan to implement the safe school concept and legal risk management at school to avoid teachers from being sued in court. Students are also required to understand and analyze teachers code of ethic and provision in the Public Service (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations, 1993 (Amendment 2002) in order to be a highly professional and ethical teacher.

K241 SGDU5033 KUMP B SCHOOL MANAGEMENT AND SUPERVISION

This course focuses on school management and supervision as an integral part of the whole process of educational management. It offers students an in-depth study of the various aspects of management and supervision of a school involving its physical resources, human resources (teachers, students, staffs and parents), and activities (teaching and learning), culture and organizational environmental characteristics. In addition, topics on principalship and school effectiveness are also discussed.

This basic course aims to provide students with the theory, practice and development of technology and innovation in the field of education. Students are also exposed to the assessment methods for selecting appropriate media on the Internet for the teaching and learning process. The latest technology is also introduced to enable students to apply it to their daily lives.

The aim of this course is to guide the students to master and practice the effective teaching skills. Through this course it is also hoped that students can choose and use appropriate methods and strategies to achieve the learning outcomes and are able to assess the teaching skills critically. In addition, students will also undergo teaching practices through micro teaching.

K241 SGDE4013 KUMP A ASSESSMENT IN LEARNING

This graduate-level course provides an introduction to contemporary educational assessment principles and practices implicated in the design, development, administration, and analysis of educational assessment instruments. It exposes students to the foundational aspects of sound educational testing practices which include the validity/validation and the reliability/precision of the assessment measures from any set of items used in an educational instrument. It also exposes students to the operational features of assessment such as test development, scoring, analysis, and interpretation. The course will discuss various items and performance tasks in education including the cutting-edge, technology-enhanced items for computer-based test and the authentic performance-based tasks that resemble real-world problems. The course will cover the basic conceptual/theoretical issues underlying the Classical Test Theory framework of measurement. It will devote considerable time to the application of the model to real data situations/cases using relevant computer software. In sum, this course will provide conceptual and practical knowledge for test development in education. Essentially, it will facilitate students in aligning the assessment component to the instructional objectives, learning outcomes, and related 21st century classroom activities to ensure sound, meaningful, and fair testing practices.
