KS243 SSYR5013 KUMP A RECIDIVISM PREVENTION

This course introduces students to the theories and concepts of recidivism among offenders who experience digression while serving a prison sentence. Knowledge and understanding of the possibility of recidivism among offenders as well as ways and means on how to prevent recidivism from happening are among areas highlighted in this course. Students are enlightened with various approaches including individual counselling, group support systems namely peers and family. In addition, this course also discusses the effectiveness of rehabilitation programmes and sociological behaviour to reduce recidivism.

KS243 SSMQ5033 KUMP A APPLIED STATISTICS AND COMPUTER APPLICATION

This course is an advanced course on basic course statistics in the field of social science or behavioural science. This course will focus on several descriptive and inference statistical analysis methods. Descriptive statistics are discussed in accordance with the qualitative data collection method while the inference statistics will touch on the hypothesis testing of the study. In addition, this course also emphasizes on SPSS for Windows computer applications for research data analysis purposes.

KS243 SSKC5123 KUMP A THEORY AND PRACTICE OF GROUP COUNSELLING

This course focuses on the theories and methods of conducting group guidance and counselling session. Students are given guidance in the form of clusters in the context of recovery within the institution. Students will be exposed to models of group counselling in accordance with the objectives of recovery such as Reality Therapy, Rational Therapy, Behavioural therapy, and group counselling models related to group work and family.
