Much has changed in the field of cross border business management where new external demands have emerged, new strategic responses have been developed, new organizational capabilities have evolved and new management competencies have become necessary. It is therefore the focus of this course to give the basics of managing a worldwide operation by understanding ones host country environment, being sensitive to cross-cultural differences, seeing the world as an integrated strategic reality, and being able to deal with the complexities of managing operations separated by the barriers of distance, language, time and culture.

"This course is designed for students from non-accounting background. The course is designed for non-accountants to learn accounting and finance in an entertaining yet rigour manner. The course aims to provide guidance to students to comprehend accounting and finance matters relevant to todays and future business financial environment. Students will be exposed to topics such as accounting concept, interpreting financial statement, analyzing financial data, non-financial reporting, time value of money, risk and return, working capital management, and capital structure. It is the intention of this course to provide deeper understanding of accounting and finance relevant for managers in making useful decisions. The highlights for this couse is that students are exposed to analysis, interpretation and use of financial and non-financial information to make business decisions. "
DA242 ODMR6023 KUMP A RESEARCH METHODS
The course aims at providing a comprehensive understanding of the diverse research methods used in the Social Sciences in general, and in management in particular. It also aims at sharing the required skills for choosing and implementing those methods. The respective uses and usefulness of the main research methods will be discussed, as well as and their relevance for the study of contemporary Social Science and management research issues. Research methods with emphasis on the nature of research, problem identification and formulation, methods of observation and data collection, analysis and interpretation, research communications, and project development.
