This course covers logic of compound and quantified propositions, introduction to proof methods and coding theory, and elements of graph theory. Students are able to use different methods of proving conjectures, including direct argument, contradiction, and contrapositive, as well as rules of inference and laws of algebra proposition. Students are expected to use discrete mathematics concepts in the contexts of algorithm as a problem solving tool, especially in mathematics and computer science.

This is one of the core courses for students in Business Mathematics, Industrial Statistics, Decision Science and Education (minor Mathematics) undergraduate programmes. The course is designed to provide the basic concepts and techniques of linear algebra needed to solve and classify systems of linear equations. Solution techniques include Gaussian elimination, inverse of matrix and matrix algebra. Also covered is an investigation of the properties of vectors in two and three dimensions, leading to the generalized notion of vector space. Theories of vector space are presented including topics such as basis, inner products, orthogonality, eigenspaces and linear transformations.

This course is a continuance from SQQM1034 Calculus I. Student will be introduced to the basic concepts of functions of multivariable, and how to differentiate and integrate such functions. Focus will be given on functions of two and three variables. Student will also be exposed to first and second order ordinary differential equations. In both type of equations, student will learn to solve different type of problems using different methods.

This course discusses parametric equation, polar coordinate system, Conic Sections ,Cartesian coordinates in three-dimensional space, cylindrical and spherical coordinates, functions of many variables. optimization of multi-variable functions, partial derivatives, multiple integrals followed by application of multivariable functions.
