The purpose of this course is to assist undergraduate students in the area of education or related fields in developing competencies and skills in educational research. More specifically, this course will provide an understanding of such competencies that is both broad and deep. Breadth of understanding is established in the student who demonstrates general knowledge as to the characteristics and properties of all the quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research approaches. In doing so, the student should be able to identify and distinguish between the various types of research approaches: their underlying philosophies, purposes, and methods. Depth of understanding is established through the student determining a need for a particular type of research approach and developing a research proposal.

This course exposes students with contemporary knowledge of student personnel management. Its includes student personnel management at school and college, concepts & principles of student personnel management, administration of record and filing system, and counselling interventions at schools. The course polishes the soft skills which counsellors should acquire based on Ministry of Education standard of practice to face the challenges for 21st century helping profession.

This course will introduce students to the principles of religion that influences the beliefs of religious followers in ensuring a better life. The emphasis of this course is related to the concept of believing that there is only One God from the moral aspects of education. Relationship development through the principles of religious tolerance will promote understanding among religious followers based on values taught by different religions particularly worshipped in Malaysia. It is hope that through exposing the characteristics and principles of different religions, the students are capable to understand and tolerate one anothers religion in embracing related challenges in the future.

This course talks about akhlak education as proposed by Islam based on practices and teachings of ethical figures. Issues related to etiquette building will be discussed based on Quran and the Sunnah as point of reference. Several moral issues will be discussed by students. They will also be taught the method to analyse and evaluate certain issues based on the Islamic perspectives. The issues selected are fornication, promiscuity and alcohol which have been said to be the cause for immorality and social ills.
