Shipping Law is one of the elective courses offered for LL.B programme. The course offers students an opportunity to examine the main areas of shipping law which includes the rules governing ownership, registration and operation of ships, mortgage of ship, maritime lien, towage, pilotage, collisions, wreck and salvage and oil pollution. In addition, this course discusses mechanisms available for legal action in shipping activities. Throughout the course of the study, students will be drawn to discussing legal provisions from international conventions/rules and domestic legislations, as well as legal principles enunciated by the court in selected decided cases.
