This course introduces the concept of frequency and severity as the basis of risk analysis. Students shall learn the various techniques and methods that can be used to analyze risk effectively and use the information in making informed decisions. The usage of relevant risk analysis solutions available in the market shall also be given emphasis in dealing with today's risks.

This course is an introduction to international human rights and is one of the subjects offered in the programme's Diplomacy and International Relations package. It begins with discussion on the concepts and theories of human rights before exploring the issue on the protection of human rights in the pre- and post-establishment of the United Nations (UN). The UN era is particularly significant as it provides many human rights protection covering various subject of international law. Focus will also be given on the limitations on these protections as well as the discourse on individual and group rights such as the freedom of speech, freedom from torture and ill-treatment in detention, and the rights of women, children and refugees. In addition, the course will also discuss the role and contribution of international non-governmental organization

This course provides an overview of concepts, theories and practices of negotiation in the international business context. Negotiation is described as a complex three-stage process that consists of preparation, negotiating and post-negotiation implementation and evaluation. Conflict and negotiation are common and integrated forms of business interaction. Disagreement in ideas and goals, scarcity of resources and incompatibility in personality are typical causes of conflicts at work. Negotiations are the most predominant forms of communication in resolving conflictual ideas, goals and offerings (as business transactions and disputes). Individuals are involved in various forms of negotiation with superiors, subordinates, customers, clients and team members, therefore effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills will help to increase task efficiency and enhance business relationships, whereas a lack of those skills will affect the business activities in general.

The main aim of this course is to provide students with the exposure of management issues and challenges surrounding firms involved in international business operations. This includes issues on topics encompassing core competencies, strategies, risks and uncertainties, emerging markets, culture and local MNCs. At the end of the course, students should be able to discuss important issues and challenges confronting practitioners in multinational firms with increased awareness, confidence and competence.
