DC232 GMUP5064 KUMP KL SELECTED ISSUES IN CONSUMER PROTECTION LAW
The course analyses selected issues pertaining to consumer protection law. Selected topics include: the law of contract, tort law and principles of the law of restitution as means of consumer protection. It emphasises on product quality and safety under the civil and criminal law, exemption clauses and other unfair terms in consumer contracts and regulation related to marketing, advertising and sales promotion practices. In addition, it also focuses on the institutions and policies related to consumer protection and redress mechanisms. The course is designed to be both academically stimulating and useful for legal practice in advising litigious consumer matters.
