The course examines relationship between motivation and learners performance and engagement, and how educators can create environments that promote motivated behaviour. It will briefly survey the historical development of motivation theories in psychology and education. Issues to be explored in greater depth include research in areas such as expectancy-value theory, attribution theory, social cognitive theory, goal orientation theory, intrinsic motivation, self-determination theory, and the effects of values, interest and emotion on motivated behaviour and decisions.

The course is designed for you to explore the challenges inherent in mentoring, coaching, and supervising in the workplace and equip you with the basic knowledge and skills to enable effective engagement in coaching, mentoring and supervision of learners and peers. To maximise individuals performance, you are led to unlock your potentials as teacher scholars, reinforce your strengths and promote productivity.

The course will provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to develop and carry out a research. In particular, Online Journalism Research aims at teaching students on how it happens and then equips the students with expert tips on analyzing the online media encounter in journalist daily life. Reflecting the latest developments from the field, this course delivers a comprehensive overview of online journalism research and a thorough exploration of each major approach including qualitative research, content analysis, survey research, and experimental research. It also fully integrates social media coverage, and the impact of merging technology. Additionally, methods for data collection and analysis are included. The course also discusses the preparations involved in writing a research report.

The Digital Illustration course at the postgraduate level is designed to provide in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in the field of digital illustration. This course explores advanced techniques and methodologies used in creating compelling digital illustrations for various mediums, including print, game, animation, and multimedia applications. Through a combination of theoretical learning, practical exercises, and real-world projects, students will enhance their skills and creativity in digital illustration, enabling them to pursue careers in industries such as advertising, entertainment, publishing, and digital media.

This course is designed to provide students with multi-discipline knowledge and comprehension of quality management and improvement: concepts of quality, tools and techniques to improve quality, and strategies for quality excellence. The goal of this course is to equip students with knowledge and skills in solving quality problems and drive for continuous improvement. Students will be exposed to some related quality problems and solutions in various industries.

This course is a continuation of the Research Methods course where students will conduct their research, in which students have to explore and apply the suitable methodology in order to solve the real problem. To support the students while implementing one of the research processes (i.e. analysing data), a seminar and 2 days of workshops will be conducted intending to expose students to Data mining Using SAS Enterprise Miner. At the end of this course, students are required to construct a research report.

The purpose of this course is for students to learn about select mental disorders that pose challenges to people across the lifespan. Biological, psychological, social and environmental factors implicated in vulnerability and resilience to these disorders are examined. Students develop skills in the diagnosis of mental disorders using the most current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) criteria. Students will also learn the treatment planning strategies using best practice and evidence-based treatment approaches and models.
