A232 STIV3023 KUMP A MULTIMEDIA SYSTEM NETWORKING
This course focuses on two significant aspects; network technologies and multimedia data and application. For the network technologies aspects, students will learn the essential characteristics and requirements of data communication and a network such as data communication protocol, communication media, network topologies, connection types, communication casting modes, and networking devices. Meanwhile, for the multimedia data and applications aspects, they will learn how multimedia data and application is used on the network and the requirements needed to have a good multimedia network. These include knowledge to support for the multimedia application, bandwidth requirements, transmission standards, data compression issues, and multimedia communication basic. Other issues discussed are multimedia LAN alternatives, content control, conferencing, information networks, and markets.
