This course will introduce students to 2 core skill sets needed for a multimedia practitioner which are authoring and programming. For the first skill, the student will be introduced to the terminology and tools used in multimedia environments and will allow the participants to actively use the new skills in a series of discussions. The second skill is programming, students will be introduced to programming concepts, fundamentals, and language. It will cover data types, control flow, object-oriented programming, and graphical user interface-driven applications.

This course focuses on basic multimedia concepts, multimedia elements, multimedia designs, multimedia technologies and areas of multimedia applications. It also introduces technologies in multimedia systems, including the platform, development tools and hardware categories. Students will be stressed on basic design principles and development processes to ease the process of developing multimedia systems. Other than that, the focus will also be given to the design and development of multimedia products using the latest tools and software.

This course is designed to increase competency through the development of observational skills of the student. This course is focuses on the basic principle of drawing based on observation. These include the understanding of design element such as point, line, shape, tone, space, proportion and form. The course will progress from line drawing to tonal drawing and also include the composition and basic perspective of drawing. The study of figure drawing will form a key component of this course. Students are also exposed to painting by referring to the understanding of basic colour element and concept. This course will also cover the process of idea generation that will be embodied in the future development of narrative and creative design project.
