This course is a continuation of SKIP1013. This course focuses on the development of larger programs using object-oriented design principles and programming constructs. It introduces the student to the principles of Object-Oriented Programming which includes topics such as object-oriented concept, predefined and user-defined class, basic aspects of string processing, encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, abstract classes, interfaces, inner classes, array of object, Graphical User Interface, event handling and design pattern.

Builds on the skills learned from basic and intermediate programming courses, in this course, students will go deeper into programming topics that help them to understand more advanced programming concepts. Some of the advanced topics that will be covered in this course include: Exception handling, Collection classes, Functional-style programming with Lambda expressions, Multithreaded programming, File processing and finally, closing off with Database programming.

The course will provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to develop and carry out a research. In particular, Online Journalism Research aims at teaching students on how it happens and then equips the students with expert tips on analyzing the online media encounter in journalist daily life. Reflecting the latest developments from the field, this course delivers a comprehensive overview of online journalism research and a thorough exploration of each major approach including qualitative research, content analysis, survey research, and experimental research. It also fully integrates social media coverage, and the impact of merging technology. Additionally, methods for data collection and analysis are included. The course also discusses the preparations involved in writing a research report.

This course covers the principles, concepts, and methods on broad topics of mobile technologies and applications. The topics are discussed from technological, user perspectives, securities and example from the real situations. Topics include are mobile and wireless communication technologies, development settings, and application design for mobile restrictions environment. Students are also exposed to the user interface issues in the mobile environment, and the future of mobile technologies.

Graduate students will be taught about the principles, practices, academic writing and evaluation process in multimedia domain. Student will meet the his/her master's project supervisor weekly to present and discuss their progress. Students also have to implement a systematic research methoology and begin writing a graduate level of master's project to fulfill requirements of this programme. Ideally, they will be ready to defend their master's project in week 10 of the semester. The correction and the suggestion from the defend session need to be settle before end of the semester

This course is one of the core courses for students in Decision Science undergraduate programme. It covers the following topics: Introduction to Database and Database Management Systems (DBMS), Data Models, Database System Development Lifecycle, Entity Relationship Model, Data Normalization, Structuring a Database, Form and Report Design, SQL, Database Application Design, and Database Issues. This course will expose students to design a database using appropriate data model to solve problems.

This course is one of the core courses for students in Decision Science undergraduate programme. It introduces basic concepts of Decision Support Systems (DSS), the role of DSS in decision making and its relationship with other management support systems within an organization. Topics to be covered include: management support systems, human decision making processes and modeling, information quality as well as DSS development and implementation. This course also introduces and uses spreadsheet to help in the decision making process. Students will learn methods to analyze business data using built-in functions, programming, preparing graphs and charts as well as preparing reports with appropriate packages. Several techniques such as profit projection, capital budgeting and sensitivity analysis will be applied to solve business problems. Students will apply the knowledge and skills learned to develop a DSS project.

This course is an introduction to the principles and techniques for data visualization. Visualizations are graphical depictions of data that enables decision makers to see analytics presented visually, so they can grasp difficult concepts of identify new patterns. In this course. Students will learn visual representation methods and techniques that increase the understanding of complex data and models. Topics to be covered include: the concept of data visualization, issues in graphical design of quantitative and qualitative data, as well as the data visualization structures. Students also will demonstrate their understanding and skills acquired through creating interactive visualization using appropriate tools.

This course exposes the students to the decision making techniques in solving some real problems through the 16 weeks attachment to selected organizations. This course is designed to allow some soft skills and technical skills been transferred from the supervisor at the organization to the student via: (i) meeting/discussion, (ii) teamwork, (iii) assignments and (iv) report writing. Student also will get some advice from the appointed university supervisor in term of practicum management and evaluation.
