A232 SCCG5433 KUMP A BROADCAST JOURNALISM
Broadcast Journalism will provide students with the skills and knowledge to be informed consumers of media in a technological society. The course provides the opportunity for students to learn basic journalistic and technological skills to be used in career choices and television productions. Students will research, gather, and analyze information to create video productions for broadcast to a variety of audiences. Students will study a variety of broadcast news practices. The basic rules of broadcast news writing will be reviewed and stories will be written and delivered for both radio and television. Studio and newsroom procedures will also be examined. This course will cover news writing for the broadcast media, creating visuals for TV production, and incorporating remote and studio broadcasts into a seamless news production. The class will also focus on the differences between reporting skills for print and broadcast media.
