The course explores the motivations, mindset and techniques used by hackers. Although their activities illicit and illegal, hackers have a finely attuned understanding of computer networks and systems and how users/customers behave in online environments. If nothing else, they have developed new  albeit illegal and unethical business model that exploit vulnerabilities in computer networks and systems. By looking at systems and practices through the eyes of hacker, you can better identify weaknesses, emerging threats and develop more effective defences.

The course will provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to develop and carry out a research. In particular, Online Journalism Research aims at teaching students on how it happens and then equips the students with expert tips on analyzing the online media encounter in journalist daily life. Reflecting the latest developments from the field, this course delivers a comprehensive overview of online journalism research and a thorough exploration of each major approach including qualitative research, content analysis, survey research, and experimental research. It also fully integrates social media coverage, and the impact of merging technology. Additionally, methods for data collection and analysis are included. The course also discusses the preparations involved in writing a research report.

This course examines the different aspects and ways humans interact with internet technologies, including emotions and behaviours. It has a vast scope and considers questions such as how the internet affects our behaviour because of anonymity, how the effects influence us to make friends and other relationships online, how we explore our personal and social identity in the social spaces on the internet, and what are the psychological consequences of the interactions and engagement with emerging technologies such as 3D immersive environments populated by synthetic entities.

The aim of the course is to prepare the students with multiple skills such as basic web programming, text formatting, web page design, writing, and editing of the web. The course will enable the students to create stories for online news and post their stories online which is attractive to the end users. It also exposed the students to create online content for a variety of news organizations. This course offers the basic principles of journalism such as objectivity, fairness, and accuracy while showing how to apply all of these principles into practice online. The legal and ethical issues of online journalism are also discussed.

The world of media is changing rapidly, or so it seems: audiences for mass entertainment are dwindling, teenagers are more likely to read online than to ever read a newspaper, and job cuts in the US and Malaysian media industries are rampant as the production work gets outsourced internationally. Yet at the same time more media gets produced and consumed all the time. Every year we spend more time watching TV and movies, playing computer and video games, listening to music, following the daily news. Surely this must be a golden age for the media business. After attending this course, student are able to understand and analyze the most current paradigms and key debates in the area of media production and management, including works on design, the management of creativity and innovation, legal and financial aspects, the economics of production and use, labour issues and work rules, ethics, and organizational communication. Lastly, the ability to come up with new and innovative ways to think about future strategies for media professionals and organizations.
