A233 SGDB5053 KUMP A CONTEXT AND CULTURE IN LANGUAGE TEACHING

This course focuses on a range of issues relating to socio-cultural contexts of language learning and use, and their associations with ESL/EFL pedagogy. Topics explored include language-culture relationships, the language classroom as a cultural context, challenges of teaching a global language and developing intercultural communicative competence. Students will explore context and culture as possible sources of conflict and concord in language learning and communication, and examine theory, research and pedagogical practices that address related issues.
