This course will discuss the contribution of the tourism industry in the economic development of the country. This is important as tourism industry is one of the components in service sector which contributes significantly to the Malaysian economy. The contributions of tourism industry among others are foreign exchange earnings and generating direct and indirect chain of economic activities. Through this course, students will be introduced to basic concepts, definitions and theories related to tourism. In addition, discussions also covered topics on tourism and economic, the application of economics tools in tourism, economic analysis in tourism industry, government policies and issues related to tourism.
