A232 BEEM2033 KUMP D MONETARY THEORY INSTITUTIONS

This course aims to expose students to the financial system in the economy. In general this course will discuss the structure of the financial system, financial assets and its relationship with the economy in theory and practice. Focus will be given to the role of money and its evolution; financial market and financial assets and its yield; the structure of interest rates; the banking system; and the demand and supply of money. The role of the Central Bank in the implementation of monetary policy and its impact on the financial sector and economy will also be highlighted.
