DC232 SSWA5113 KUMP KL CONTEMPORARY SOCIAL WORK WITH CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS

The focus of this course is on the theories and practice of social work with children and adolescents. Discussion will centre upon developmental, familial and environmental factors that influence the behaviour of children and adolescents. The impact of family dynamics and how it affects childrens well-being will be discussed. This course also focuses on the techniques in conducting case assessments, with specific focus on current issues and assessment of strengths and resilience in determining appropriate interventions for the child clients and their families. Students will also be exposed to the planning and policy development relevant to children and adolescents.
