A232 SGDY5073 KUMP A SOCIO-CULTURAL THEORY AND LEARNING

This graduate course will explore and examine the theoretical contributions of Vygotskian Sociocultural Theory (SCT) to learning in various fields including learning of a second language and learning in virtual context. It also provides a foundational education in SCT and the opportunity to engage critically about the role of social and culture in shaping human cognition as described by key proponents in the area. Discussions on the application of the theory to related learning models and its pedagogical implications and assessment will also be included.
