This course is extended from Production and Operations Management (POM) Course. However, the topics in BJMP3023 more focus on designing of production systems of all activities in organizations that create goods or provide services. Learning all topics in this course is very importance because decisions made in this area will contribute some impact on operations and organizations overall success. Design decisions have strategic significance for business organizations. In this course students will be expose on how to design new products and services based on customer requirement and getting them to market quickly in Process Designing Products & Services topic. Design Planning topic and Layout & Facility Planning topic able to expose students on arrangement of units and equipment within departments which affects the flow of work through a system and will impacts productivity of organization. Student also need to learn on how to be flexible, able to reducing operating cost, and capable to respond to customer demand through Capacity Planning and Location Decision topics. Work Force Management topic focuses on the human element in production systems.
